  • Yesterday was an unforgettable day at Ximuwu Lodge! We officially received our 5-Star Premium grading from the South African Tourism Grading Council.

We’re now among a very small group of lodges with this prestigious status — and we’re the only accommodation in South Africa with Universal Access Level 3, the highest level. We couldn’t be prouder!

Gus, the GM of the Klaserie, joined us to celebrate this milestone, recognising both Ximuwu and our reserve for truly inclusive travel.

We can’t wait to welcome even more guests to enjoy an unforgettable safari with us!
  • The festive season has arrived at Ximuwu! The tree is up, the decorations are in place, and our lodge is filled with that special December atmosphere.

It’s a wonderful time of year to slow down, enjoy nature, and make lasting memories in the bush.
We’re all set for a beautiful month ahead and can’t wait to welcome our guests for a relaxed and joyful festive season at Ximuwu 🎄
  • At Ximuwu, creating a place that feels truly special is part of what we love most.
Every room, every corner, every view has been shaped with care — from our hand-painted curtains and beautiful pieces by local artists to the warm glow of the light fittings that bring everything together.

These details might seem small, but they make the lodge feel personal and full of character. It’s the kind of space where you immediately feel at ease, where you notice something new each day, and where the atmosphere becomes part of the experience.
We can’t wait to welcome you and share an unforgettable safari adventure with you ❤️
  • We spotted the first impala lambs of the season this week, and they truly melted everyone’s hearts. There’s something so uplifting about seeing the bush come alive with new life, especially after the first rains. Their tiny steps and curious energy add a lovely sense of freshness to the reserve.

Wishing everyone a happy Friday from all of us at Ximuwu!
  • Some moments are simply too lovely not to share.

Over the past days, we’ve had the joy of witnessing so many special moments, each one reminding us why we love what we do. From the quiet stillness of the bush to the thrill of discovering something new on every drive, these are the experiences that make a stay at Ximuwu truly unforgettable.

And as another wonderful stay comes to an end, our team gathers at the lodge entrance, waving goodbye to yet another group of happy guests, grateful for the memories shared and looking forward to welcoming them back.
Until next time 🙌
  • The male kudu is one of the most impressive antelope you’ll encounter at Ximuwu. Tall, elegant and crowned with those remarkable spiral horns — which can reach over a metre in length — they truly stand out. Even with their size, they move quietly and cautiously, relying on sharp hearing and subtle colouring to stay perfectly aware of everything around them.

Male kudus are mostly solitary or form small bachelor groups, unlike the females who gather in larger herds. Their twisted horns are used in fights for dominance during the mating season, and each set of spirals is unique — almost like a fingerprint. Observing a bull kudu during a game drive is always a fascinating part of the day.
