About Ximuwu
Where Ximuwu Began
In May 2026, Ximuwu Lodge entered a new chapter with the acquisition of the property by Leaf Capital Investments, a family office investment firm. Members of the Leaf-Wright family, Paul and Astrid, and Hylton and Charmaine, represent the new shareholders — families with a lifelong passion for wildlife and a clear-eyed view of what Ximuwu represents.
The Leaf-Wright family searched for the perfect luxury safari property for some time before discovering Ximuwu. In that search, they encountered many beautiful lodges. But Ximuwu stood apart.
What makes Ximuwu exceptional is its founding ethos: a lodge designed to cater to every guest, thoughtfully.
This philosophy shapes everything we do. It’s in how we keep the lodge small, ensuring each guest receives individual attention. It’s in the accessible design of our suites and shared spaces. It’s in our kitchens, where chefs create exceptional meals tailored to every preference and dietary need. And it’s in our game drives, where you spend time truly observing wildlife, not rushing between sightings.
Under this stewardship, the vision is to honour what has been built while taking Ximuwu to new heights.
Our Environment
Conservation & Care
We respect the fauna and flora here, which is why wildlife thrives. Our expert trackers and drivers find incredible sightings without damaging the environment. We avoid unnecessary off-road driving while ensuring guests still get the best sightings.
This principle is embodied in our name. Ximuwu is named after the majestic baobab tree on our property, which is hundreds of years old. It’s the site of our bush breakfasts and a symbol of the care that defines everything we do.
Our Safari Experiences
Unique Safaris
Ximuwu offers experiences many safari lodges don’t. This is why we’re favoured by seasoned travelers and safari enthusiasts.
Spend a night under African stars on our sleep-out deck. Enjoy a sound safari, closing your eyes to experience the bush through sound. Visit our well-equipped, beautifully positioned photographic hides to observe and photograph the wildlife. Try a bush walk or a night safari for a whole new way to experience the wilderness.
Our Approach
Accessible Luxury
Accessibility is an extension of Ximuwu’s commitment to catering to every guest. Our game vehicles, suites, bathrooms, and common areas are designed with thoughtful consideration for all guests.
We’re not simply a wheelchair-friendly lodge — we’re a luxury lodge where accessibility is simply part of excellent design. When you design thoughtfully, considering different bodies and different ways of moving through the world, you create better spaces for everyone.
