  • Life lately ✨

Life lately at Ximuwu has been all about celebrations, families, and friends — and we couldn’t love it more!

From birthday surprises and honeymoon toasts to laughter-filled dinners under the stars, the lodge has been alive with special moments.

The bush has treated us to unforgettable sightings, golden sunsets, and so many smiles. Here’s a little glimpse into the magic of Ximuwu — where every day feels like a celebration of life.

  • If you’ve been to Ximuwu, you’ll definitely know our resident couple — the black-backed jackals who call our airstrip home! 🐾

They’ve been around for years, always keeping an eye (and nose!) out for any “leftovers” after a good meal or sighting. Let’s just say they take their clean-up duties very seriously!

  • If the weather allows, there’s always a surprise waiting for you at Ximuwu… A breakfast under our iconic Baobab tree — Ximuwu in the Tsonga language — or a magical dinner under the stars by the sleepout deck.

These special meals in the bush are just another inclusion you can look forward to during your stay with us.
To truly enjoy all the unique experiences we offer, we require a minimum stay of three nights — giving you the time to soak up every unforgettable moment.

Which one would you choose — breakfast under the Baobab or dinner under the stars? ✨🌿

  • Our guests last week were beyond lucky — they managed to spot the Magnificent Seven during their stay at Ximuwu! That’s the Big Five plus wild dogs and a cheetah… what an unforgettable experience!

We’re always thrilled to see our resident male cheetah, who has been visiting us regularly for more than eight years now. We’re so grateful that he’s still going strong and hope to welcome him for many more years to come. There’s nothing quite like watching him stop by the lodge waterhole for a drink — truly a pinch-me moment!

Which one of the Magnificent Seven is your favourite?

  • We’re slowly heading towards our rainy season, and we honestly can’t wait for that first big downpour! The bush is very dry at the moment, and you can feel that both animals and people are longing for that fresh green to return.

Luckily, our dams still hold plenty of water from last year’s good rains — which means we’ve had some very happy (and regular!) elephant visitors lately. Watching them splash, play, and cool off in the dams close to the lodge is such a special sight for our guests.

Here’s to the promise of rain, lush green days ahead, and even more magical wildlife moments at Ximuwu 💦
